A. My Most Creative Endeavour
"Where the Bloody Hell Are You?"
2009 Visual Arts HSC Major Work
I love a good mango. Migrating from the Philippines to Australia in 2002, all I wanted was to enjoy a mango. Mangoes taste different in Australia. Everything was different in Australia; shattered expectations of Australian society numbed my sense of sight, smell, taste and touch. Australians seemed to me to take everything for granted. Through the making of this work, I was reliving my childhood memories with the luscious and golden mango and my journeys between my two homes. The growth cycle of the mango echoes my journey of discovery of who I was, who I am and who I will be. Through my art making practice, I have added "flavour, vision and truth to my world," continually aspiring to be the "salt of the earth" and "the light of the world."

The bridge my family crossed during special ocassions and memorable road trips to the capital city, Manila. I remember trying count the number of posts with my siblings while passing by! Suprisingly enough it is the 2nd longest bridge in the Philippines. Its the kind of architecture that takes your eyes off from its surroundings when trying to pass time as a child.
C. Something Beautiful
The lone duck at Botanic Gardens 2008 =)
In search of a concept for my HSC major work, I packed my camera and embarked on an adventure to the Sydney Royal Botanic Gardens. Minutes before deciding to pack up and leave, I spotted a lone duck and decided to follow it. After 10mins of looking weird following the duck, I finally captured what I'm proud to say as my favourite photo of all time. There is just something so harmonious and intriguing about how I captured this duck! Is it the different shades of green, the clarity of the blades of grass or the way the duck stares at me? I simply don't know!
